MoU Signing with ICFRE: Opening New Doors to Collaborative Research and Knowledge Exchange on Bamboo

Industree Foundation and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, India, the apex body of forestry in the country, have entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaborative research and knowledge exchange on bamboo.

This partnership opens the doors to national-level scientific expertise across ICFRE’s network of nine regional institutes, located in diverse biogeographical regions across the country. The collaboration will focus on:

* Bamboo taxonomy and propagation


* Engineering and industrial applications


* Biotechnology and tissue culture


* Agroforestry, rural livelihoods, and value chains

As the technical and knowledge partner- under the Bamboo sub-sector Initiative of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY - NRLM)- to Society For Elimination Of Rural Poverty - India (SERP) - Telangana, SERP - Andhra Pradesh, Odisha Livelihoods Mission, Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, and Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Industree aims to impact a million women farmers through sustainable bamboo cultivation and value addition.

This MoU marks an important milestone towards strengthening the scientific foundation of India’s bamboo economy, promoting a climate-positive, women-led, seed-to-market value chain that enhances rural incomes and resilience.


The MoU was signed by Smt. Kanchan Devi, IFS, Director General, ICFRE, and Neju George Abraham, CEO, Industree Foundation, in the presence of Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Director General (Research), Sh. Mahaling, IFS, ADG (External Projects), Dr. Manish Kumar ICFRE, Dr. Shrikant Gunaga, and Remya Devan of Industree.
